The Mission
US Water Rescue Dive Team is a volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to underwater search, rescue and recovery. Our divers respond when families and agencies are facing one of the most difficult situations imaginable: someone is missing beneath the water.
We are seeking $225,131.22 to acquire a complete Deep Trekker REVOLUTION Search and Recovery ROV system. This equipment would dramatically expand our underwater search capabilities while reducing unnecessary risk to divers.
Why This System Matters
Underwater search and recovery operations can take place in zero visibility, cold water, current, hazardous environments and depths where repeated diver searches become difficult, time consuming and potentially dangerous. In many situations, our divers are searching essentially blind.
A properly equipped ROV can conduct extended underwater searches, use imaging sonar to locate objects when visibility is limited or nonexistent, document search areas and help direct divers precisely when human intervention is required.
The goal is not to replace public safety divers. The goal is to use technology to make those divers more effective and reduce the amount of time they must spend exposed to unnecessary underwater hazards.
What This Capability Gives Our Team
- Extended underwater search capability
- Imaging sonar for extremely low and zero-visibility environments
- Live underwater video and search documentation
- The ability to investigate potential targets before committing a diver
- More precise deployment of divers when hands-on intervention is necessary
- Reduced exposure of divers to cold, depth, current, entanglement and other underwater hazards
- Long-duration search capability that can complement sonar, boats and public safety dive operations
More Than a Search
For a family waiting on shore, a search is not simply an operation. Every hour can mean uncertainty, unanswered questions and the inability to begin processing an unimaginable loss.
Following one of our recent recovery operations, a father explained that being kept informed and allowed to understand and participate in the search process helped him begin to process what had happened. He told us that our involvement gave him more than closure from the recovery itself — it helped him through one of the most difficult moments of his life.
That experience reinforced why this project matters. Better search capability can mean faster answers, safer operations and better support for families during their most difficult hours.
An Investment in Search & Recovery
An advanced ROV system represents a major investment for a volunteer nonprofit, but it also represents a capability that can be deployed when communities and families need it most.
This equipment would become an operational search and recovery asset — not simply a piece of technology. Our objective is to put it to work in real-world underwater searches where speed, endurance, visibility and diver safety matter.
Help Us Bring Them Home
We are seeking individuals, businesses, foundations and philanthropic partners who believe advanced technology can be used to save lives, protect rescuers and help families obtain answers.
Our current funding objective is $225,131.22 for the Deep Trekker REVOLUTION Search and Recovery ROV system.
A contribution toward this project is an investment in a capability designed to serve far beyond a single mission. It can be deployed again and again whenever an underwater search requires capabilities beyond what divers alone can safely provide.
